Our Expectations
From Spirit of Prophecy counsel and Adventist history, we expect this work to require a considerable amount of volunteer help. We believe the vision of a "complete approach" to metropolitan evangelism will inspire such a workforce. Many--though not all--of these will be young and single. This is one of the reasons for the big-happy-family environment of the "outpost center." A century ago, restaurant management failed to protect and foster the spiritual lives of their younger workers, and was roundly reproved in no uncertain terms. We do not wish to repeat that mistake.
We believe that the environment of the outpost center needs to be both home- and school-like. Education may be somewhat informal at times (perhaps more through evening worships or on-the-fly discussions than fully structured classes) but will focus on Adventist history and the instruction given for all aspects of evangelism.
We are happy for the chance to put into action here in North America the kind of raw faith and dedication we so often read about out there in the foreign mission frontiers. A lot has happened in the last year since this all started, and we continue to look forward to developing this work, first (for whatever reason God may have) here in Wichita, but then to replicate it in thousands of other places.
